Abstract

“Innovative Healthcare Policy of Kanagawa”

ME-BYO Concept for Overcoming the Challenges of a Super-aged Society
Mr. Yasuo Otani, Advisor to the Governor, Kanagawa Prefectural Government

Kanagawa, south of Tokyo and home to 9.1 million people, is one of the fastest ageing prefectures in the country.
To lead the way in tackling challenges posted by this unprecedented demographic change, the Kanagawa Prefectural Government is promoting a policy package called the “Healthcare New Frontier” policies.
The concept that underpins the “Healthcare New Frontier” policies is “ME-BYO”, and in order to spread the “ME-BYO” concept around the world, the Prefecture is carrying out various efforts.
In this seminar, while explaining the “ME-BYO” concept, Mr. Otani will introduce the new graduate program called School of Health Innovation, which just opened in the prefecture this April, to develop human resources that can revolutionize social system and technology in the field of health care.
