Abstract

“Build a Life-science Ecosystem that is open to the world”

Mr. Takatoshi Kuno, Science and Technology Coordinator, Kanagawa Institute of Industrial Science and Technology

In April 2018, Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Limited opened Shonan Health Innovation Park (Shonan iPark), the first science park based on a pharmaceutical company in Japan, as a center for collaboration between industry, government and academia. Shonan iPark's vision is "Social implementation of innovative ideas", and aims to "Build a Life-science Ecosystem that is open to the world." In the world of healthcare, there are various key players such as hospitals, universities, government, public research institutes, pharmaceutical companies and bio-ventures, which are centering on patients. At Shonan iPark, all key players in the ecosystem have an organic connection through the environment where research can be started from Day 1, etc., while creating co-creation using technologies and knowledge that are mutually beneficial. We are now diligently seeking companies that will become members of this Ecosystem.
